This project were developed as part of my work for Multiplica with Chris Lemus (PD) and Maria Loza (UXW).

The Challenge

The market in Mexico is governed by cash and many shopkeepers (specially small convenience stores) are having more and more digital customers who manage digital money, the problem is that many of them are losing clients because they do not handle card payments.

Understanding the user were the key; to achieved this we worked close with the research team, we use guerrilla interviews and usability testing, we research the user: their needs, their values, goals, their pains, etc.

Who is the user? Mainly small store owners (or store managers), but also any person who attends a business and requires digital tools.

HMW…?

  • How might we take advantage of the type of clientele that goes to the little stores to design digital options adapted to their particular needs?

  • How might we convince the small store owners that adapting to new tools can bring benefits in the long run?

  • How might we help to resolve the issue of the lack of demand for other means of payment among consumers, so that this does not represent a barrier to implement new solutions in the business?

Product definition

Time to transform the research and strategy into a tangible product. Ideas came back and forward, lots of wireframes were designed, architecture and userflows were discussed. And finally, we wrapped the product concept, we started with wireframes and once the product was defined we move to the UI.

Brand Identity & UI

UI Exploration

UI Kit

For the UI process we had sessions with stakeholders to get feedback and validation, just as Dev touchpoints to check viability. Once we had the GO! we created a global library.

Next steps were to elevate and fine tune the lo-fi wireframes into hi-fi wireframes.

Outcome

We tackled the principle challenges by creating a fintech experience easy to use. This outcome not only for target users but also for our stakeholders – business needs.

You can see here the prototype that was use for the usability testing
